Horniman Nature Trail Bat Survey

A late night event focussing on our only flying mammal – the bat. Ecologist and bat specialist Huma Pearce will give a short introduction to bats. Weekly Health Walks 

 

Walking is a great way to keep active, manage your weight, reduce stress and protect your health. It is also great fun and an opportunity to meet people. Do not worry about the pace, there will always be someone walking at your speed. Walks are led by qualified walk leaders and provide a friendly and sociable atmosphere in which to enjoy some of the most beautiful places and spaces along the Green Chain. On the Green Chain you will discover everything from local nature reserves and lovely parklands and gardens to sports grounds and places to grow your own fruit and veg. You can picnic in flower filled meadows, explore formal gardens or even visit a farm just 7 miles from the City!

The Green Chain overflows with wildlife so if you’re quiet and keep your eyes open who knows what you might be lucky enough to see! Squirrels, voles and foxes are Green Chain regulars, as are woodpeckers and jays. Don’t be too surprised if you catch sight of the odd, ring necked parakeet - a lasting guest from a country far away!
