Diversion in Section 1 of the Green Chain Walk

A short section of the Green Chain Walk between Thamesmead Riverside and Lesnes Abbey will be closed between the 16th February and the 29th May 2015 due to regeneration work taking place at Southmere Park.

However do not let this deter you!

How to find your way

Diversions are in place that will enable walkers to rejoin the strategic route - refer to the diversion route map for details.

If you are walking from Lesnes Abbey towards the Thames:

  1. descend the staircase at the footbridge (point A of diversion route map)
  2. walk along Yarnton Way and turn first left into St Katherine's Road
  3. follow this road into Southmere Park (point B of diversion route map) and continue along the tarmac path to rejoin the Green Chain Walk at the main sign-post (point C of diversion route map).

Reverse the process if you are coming from the river to Lesnes Abbey.

If you would like further information about the Southmere Park regeneration, refer to map below
